Plus Points
Ravi Teja has played police roles in the past too, but unlike his The limitations of the railway police are well portrayed and the actor impresses with his effective screen presence and energy levels. Ravi Teja is very good in intense fight scenes. The references to his old films may attract the fans.
These two scenes, set in a forest area, are well captured and choreographed. There is a feast fight scene in the second half, which is to good effect. Rajendra Prasad’s entertaining action sequence evokes good laughs. Naveen Chandra and Srileela do justice to their roles.
Technical Aspects
The background score is good in the action sequences, but the songs lack the Bheems Cicerolio magic. The film would have benefited a lot if it had a good album as the film aims to entertain the masses.
Vidhu Ayyanna’s cinematography is very good and the visuals especially in the action part look impressive. The editing is also good. The production values are good, with a large chunk of the budget being spent on the railway station and the Jatra set.
Verdict
Overall, Mass Jatara is a template-based film, which is mostly driven by Ravi Teja’s spirited performance and some good action blocks. There are only a few promising moments and the film as a whole doesn’t quite hit the mark.
